Personal brand is a widely-recognized and largely-uniform perception or impression of an individual based on their experience, expertise, competencies, actions and/or achievements within a community, industry, or the marketplace. So, basically it's what is rooted in the minds of people.
Personal branding, on the other hand is the conscious and intentional effort to create and influence public perception of an individual by
- positioning them as an authority in their industry,
- elevating their credibility
- differentiating themselves from the competition.
In other words, it's an effort to communicate and present your value.
So, what we need to start doing is that making that effort to communicate our value(s) and build the trust with our audience.
It's our responsibility to communicate it in the way which is suitable for your audience!
As David Brier once said: If you don’t give the market the story to talk about, they’ll define your brand’s story for you.
